COLERIDGE...A BRIDGE BUILDER

A BRIDGE BUILDER
Tim Coleridge is next as a potential leader.
The Dame has little knowledge of Tim: what little she has gleaned comes from residents in his neck of the woods.
Without exception, Tim is regarded as a hyperactive representative....no letter, email or telephone call goes unanswered.
Tim has much stored up good will. When Daniel Moylan was set upon destroying Sloane Square with his bloody silly scheme Tim, along with Victoria Borwick, stood up to be counted.
The story goes that he was punished for this act of righteous rebellion by being denied the Mayoralty ....such is the petty vindictiveness of Pooter Cockell.
Anyway, back to TC.

The Dame is told that Coleridge is the 'right stuff.' He knows how to behave; is courteous to all and deeply popular with residents. More importantly, officers say they can work with him.
A good all rounder and someone who can build bridges between residents and a deeply flawed council.

His defect? He needs to push himself forward with more vigour and aggression.

  1. A nice guy but not what the Borough needs at this time. After years of decay in the hands of Cockell we need a bruiser who can knock the Borough into Thatcher shape

  2. Is Moylan on the list of potential Leaders?

  3. Moylan is not on the list for obvious reasons....he is a disruptive and divisive character.....the last person this fragile and demotivated council needs. Why do you think he has be shoved out Boris's gang?

  4. Can anyone explain why he still sits on the front bench at Council? Is it true that Cockell is too afraid of him to move him back a row?

When officers asked if there should be any change to seating arrangements, they were told 'of course, perhaps YOU'd like to inform Cllr Moylan'.

    Very funny.

  5. Cllr Coleridge reaches out to all residents in need, not just those in his own ward. A true gentleman, who has ways of making things work out as much as they possibly can. I am not a "blue" but still of the consideration that this fella' would make an excellent leader. Thank you Tim for all your hard work, and dedication!!!

  6. What is Cllr Tim's position re Holland Park Opera? Does he have the balls to give an opinion?

  7. This is one of the two "dim Tims" in the Cabinet. He would need a strong support team around him (many Leaders do this and it can produce great success) and he needs to learn how to delegate and share the limelight, These are bigger challenges for him and both are notable problems that have been noticed by colleagues

  8. Leadership requires more than charm and warmth and empathy. The guy's letter writing and reasoning are illiterate. Can the Borough take a chance?

    1. You silly git. Local Government is low level stuff. Dustbins. You don't need to be a rocket scientist. Tim will be just fine

    2. The Dame was determined to be non partisan in all this....however, she cannot stand by and read silliness. Coleridge writes perfectly reasonable emails. They are charged with emotion and commitment and as someone so wisely said he has guts and determination: that is proven. On the one occasion The Dame has heard Coleridge speak she was very impressed....but the Dame must not take sides.....Cllr Coleridge would be a safe pair of hands.

  9. Neither Tim is dim. One is wimpish and this one isn't. He fought tooth and nail for the residents of Grenfell Tower in the face of opposition from the chosen ones, such as Feilding-Mellen, who thought they did not deserve any consideration when they had the temerity to ask for crumbs from the rich man's table over the Kensington Academy development. This Tim does have guts. He is a one-nation Tory who respects those less privileged than himself and he does not wish to grind their faces into the ground.

  10. I am not a git! The Council spends £800 million every year. A bit of rocket science to manage this might not be a bad idea

    1. Why not take an educated guess instead of wasting the time of a very important and busy Dame?

  14. A Coleridge/Holgate team, with Hargreaves as Deputy Leader, would be the best way forward for this Council, given that Victoria Borwick is out of the frame for the next four years.

  17. Knowing all the candidates I think that Tim Coleridge would make an excellent leader; he is mild mannered, intelligent and willing to listen to the other side of an argument. Tim is an honourable gentleman who has an enviable record of standing up for what he believes to be right and if necessary make a stand.

    1. When did Tim Coleridge ever stand up to the ruling officers? Examples please

    2. and when did any other councillor stand up to a ruling officer. Remember the courage of Coleridge over Sloane Square. I think that shows the mettle of the man!

God, The Dame has some really idiots commenting. I suppose you must be the pathetic Palmer. All your creeping won't get you a job in his Cabinet

  19. It is a classic rerun of history that the Dame is running this blog at all. A Leader who does not realise that his time to go is past and hangs on to power in a blind and deluded way. It has happened before and will no doubt happen again.

It has never been known for the Leader of a Local Council to go on and become Chairman of the Local Government Association and at the same time hang on to his old job. A first for Pooter. And now it looks as though the pantomime will continue. Last year it was "I must stay on and officiate at the opening of Holland Park School". This year it is "I must stay on and save Holland Park Opera". Next year it will be another "Stay On". It is not difficult to find "Stay Ons"

  20. It would be so much easier if the leader was restricted to a maximum of two terms; this would encourage greater democracy within RBK&C. May be the new leader as part of his or her manifesto could introduce fix terms, even dare I say it for not only just the leader but all councillors. In my view this is the only way forward to encourage greater accountability within RBK&C and discourages complacency. Fix terms would be far fairer to everyone as it gives more people a chance to serve their community. Some of the councillors have been in office for well over twenty years which is utterly ridiculous.
